This Week’s Show

Segment 1: Week in Review, Habs News, League News

  • After a tough loss to Detroit in the Habs final home game of 2019, the Montreal Canadiens headed out on the road for the Western Canadian road trip. They bounced back with a pair of wins over the Vancouver Canucks and Calgary Flames. Rick and Joe discuss the “Road Warriors” Montreal Canadiens.
  • In a press conference this week, Marc Bergevin said he would not “mortgage the future” to make an improvement to this team.
  • Taylor Hall was dealt to Arizona this week for a package of picks and prospects that was headlined by prospect defenceman, Kevin Bahl. This was a trade that sparked a lot of debate on social media, including amongst Habs fans.
  • We check in with the Laval Rocket as they have dealt with some injuries to Alex Belzile and Charles Hudon.
  • Michael McCarron will most likely be facing some supplemental discipline for his actions against the Utica Comets.
  • After being sent down following his first career NHL win, Cayden Primeau’s struggles in the AHL have continued.

Segment 2: The Big Topic

  • “Culture” is a word thrown around quite a lot in professional sports. For a team to be successful for a prolonged period of time, the culture that surrounds that club needs to be a positive one. Rick and Joe take a look at the culture that has surrounded the Montreal Canadiens since Marc Bergevin has taken over as the General Manager of the organization.

Segment 1: Week in Review, Habs News, League News

  • The Montreal Canadiens rollercoaster ride continues this week. They picked up two wins this week, against the Islanders and Rangers, while dropping contests to the Flyers, Bruins and Avalanche. Rick and Joe discuss the week that was for the Habs.
  • This past Tuesday, the Habs welcomed former captains to the Bell Centre to celebrate the 110th birthday of the club. Those in attendance included: Yvan Cournoyer, Bob Gainey, Guy Carbonneau, Chris Chelios and Saku Koivu, among others.
  • Marc Bergevin met with Habs prospect defenseman, Alexander Romanov, in Moscow earlier this week, in what was described as being a “positive meeting”.
  • There were reports earlier in the week that the Habs had interest in Bob Hartley to replace Claude Julien behind the Canadiens’ bench. This was later denied by the Habs vice-president of communications, Paul Wilson on Twitter.
  • Given the Habs recent struggles, the team is involved in a myriad of trade rumours. Hall, Gostisbehere and Martinez are a few names being suggested.
  • The Habs sent down Gustav Olofsson and recalled Otto Leskinen. The club also recalled Matthew Peca.

Segment 2: The Big Topic

The club sent Keith Kinkaid down to Laval, through waivers, recalling 20-year-old netminder, Cayden Primeau. Primeau made his NHL debut against the Avalanche, in a 3-2 loss. The guys discuss the decision to recall a goaltender who only had 12 pro games under his belt.

Segment 1: Week in Review, Habs News, League News

  • The Montreal Canadiens slump continues. Three games this week against the Rangers, Bruins and Devils, three disappointing results. Rick and Joe discuss what has gone wrong for the Habs the last couple weeks.
  • Darren Dreger added some fuel to fire with respect to the rumours about Taylor Hall potentially being a target for the Habs, adding that he could see Hall signinglong term with the club, should a deal come together.
  • Paul Byron was moved to the IR and the Canadiens recalled defenceman, Gustav Olofsson.
  • On December 3rd the Montreal Canadiens will celebrate the 110th birthday of the franchise, by welcoming former Canadiens Captains to the Bell Centre.
