Roster news – Jake Evans cleared to play. Dominique Ducharme self isolating at home. Canadiens signed VP John Sedgwick to a three-year contract extension.
Habs prospect report – Forward Yannick Veilleux has reportedly signed a two-year contract with Eisbaren Berlin of the Deutsche Eishockey Liga (DEL). Canadiens signed Laurent Dauphin to a one-year, two-way contract. Reports state that Joel Bouchard is unlikely to return as head coach of the Laval Rocket next season. Marc Bergevin lost out to Lou Lamoriello for the Jim Gregory Award for GM of the Year. Bergevin raised expectations for this team heading into the season and it came to fruition with the Canadiens advancing to the Stanley Cup Finals.
Habs Playoffs News and Notes – Capacity at the Bell Centre currently at 3,500, while Amalie Arena in Tampa Bay at 14,800. Officiating in the playoffs by Chris Lee and Dan O’Rourke has been heavily scrutinized in games three and four of the semi-finals.

Elliotte Friedman reported that discussions have begun with Geoff Molson about Marc Bergevin’s future with the Canadiens. Should Bergevin’s contract be extended? Should the interim label be removed so Dom Ducharme becomes the head coach of the Canadiens?
Do the Canadiens have a chance against the Maple Leafs? Marc Bergevin claimed that he specifically built this team for the playoffs so a first round upset could affirm his case.

The Canadiens have acquired Eric Staal from the Buffalo Sabres in exchange for a third and a fifth round pick in the 2021 NHL Draft.
Habs prospect report – Jordan Harris has chosen to return to Northeastern for his senior year. NCAA Regional tournaments began on Friday with Habs prospects participating: Cole Caufield, Jack Gorniak, Blake Biondi, Arvid Henrikson, Luke Tuch. Bemidji State upset Wisconsin 6-3 on Friday to end the tournament for Caufield and Gorniak and coach Tony Granato. Check out The Press Zone – Montreal.
Marc Bergevin media availability this week regarding the COVID situation and game postponements.
NHL News – Referee Tim Peel will no longer work games now or in the future. NHL players moving from the United States to Canada will now be required to only quarantine for seven days, down from 14.

Roster news – Ben Chiarot had surgery on his right hand on Monday, he will miss 6-8 weeks. Paul Byron cleared waivers on Wednesday. Sean Burke participated in his first practice in his new role on Friday. Habs equipment manager Pierre Gervais recognized for 3000 games.
Habs prospect report – Cole Caufield has been named Big Ten Player of the Year. Caufield scored game tying and game winning goals in semi-finals, but his Badgers lost to the Golden Gophers in the Big Ten championship on Tuesday. Frozen Four Regional participants to be selected on Sunday. Jordan Harris considering joining the Canadiens now that his NCAA season is done. Ryan Poehling is heating up for the Rocket. There have been new members of the Canadiens who have been key additions on the ice and as leaders, the guys react to comments from newcomers Corey Perry and Josh Anderson.
With Ben Chiarot out of the lineup, the Canadiens have been forced to reconfigure their defensive pairings. Rick and Joe discuss how the new look pairings have performed and react to a clip from Shea Weber discussing the adjustments of playing with a new partner. Could the Habs make a move for some help on the blueline?
Overtime losses continue to pile up for the Canadiens, with two more this week they are now 0-9 in extra time. The guys take a look at Dominique Ducharme’s strategy for overtime and discuss slow starts.

Marc Bergevin spoke to the media this week in his mid-season media availability. He discussed Chiarot’s injury and whether he envisions making a trade to get a replacement for Chiarot, the cap, the team’s prospects, playoffs and the changes to the team under Ducharme. Roster news – Canadiens sign Gianni Fairbrother to three-year entry-level contract. Josh Anderson has missed three games due to a lower-body injury. Walter Gretzky passed away at the age of 82.
They Said What? – Nick Suzuki discusses the Canadiens lack of offense as of late, Jeff Petry on the Canadiens struggles in overtime and the shootout after the Canadiens fell to 0-6 in extra time this week. Marc Bergevin held a press conference this week after the firing of goaltending coach Stephane Waite and appointing Sean Burke.
Carey Price shared his thoughts on the firing of Waite and hiring of Sean Burke, as well as Marco Marciano, who will be acting as goaltending coach until Burke can begin working with the Canadiens on March 19th.
Stephane Waite gave his insight into what has been happening with Price this season after he had been fired and one of his explanations aligns with something Rick said on last week’s show.

The Canadiens signed forward Corey Perry to a one-year contract worth $750,000. This comes a week after the Habs signed Michael Frolik to an identical contract.
The roster for Canadiens training camp has been released, camp is set to open Sunday.
World Junior Championship report – With group play having come to an end, Rick and Joe give their thoughts on the tournament and players who have stood out to them. They take a deeper look at the play of the three Canadiens prospects involved in the tournament, Kaiden Guhle, Cole Caufield and Jan Mysak.
They Said What? – Michael Frolik and Corey Perry spoke to the media this week after the veteran forwards both signed one-year deals with the Canadiens.
Hockey notes – AHL Board of Governors approve framework for season to begin on February 5th. The Washington Capitals signed Zdeno Chara to a one-year contract. Columbus Blue Jackets re-sign Pierre-Luc Dubois to 2-year contract. NHL will play two outdoor games in Lake Tahoe, Nevada in February, February 20: Colorado Avalanche vs Vegas Golden Knights and February 21: Boston Bruins vs Philadelphia Flyers. P.K. Subban and Lindsay Vonn break up after three years.

Canadiens forward Phillip Danault has been named the recipient of the Jean Beliveau trophy for community involvement.
Deacon Sports and Entertainment announced the appointment of three senior leaders for their new ECHL franchise in Trois-Rivères
Canadiens prospect report – Hockey Canada shuts down their National Junior selection camp in Red Deer. Jesperi Kotkaniemi’s loan with Pori Assat has come to an end. Cole Caufield netted a hat-trick against Penn State. Jordan Harris and Jayden Struble are in quarantine with the rest of their team at Northeastern University.
They Said What? – Kirk Muller spoke with the media this week, touching on a variety of subjects, including training camp, the Canadiens power play, Jesperi Kotkaniemi and much more.

Rick and Joe are joined by Montreal hip-hop artist and sports fan, Annakin Slayd. Slayd touched on all of the optimism that surrounded the 2009-10 season, punctuated by his song “Feels like ’93“. Slayd also touches on the return of that optimism following the Canadiens improbable playoff run in the bubble.
