  • Habs prospect report – AHL announced that Cayden Primeau and Otto Leskinen were named to the 2020-21 Canadian Division All-Star Team. Laval Rocket signed forward Cedric Desruisseaux and defenseman Terrance Amorosa to one-year, two-way AHL contracts. Canadiens nearing June 1st deadline to sign three prospects to NHL contracts: Joni Ikonen, Jacob Leguerrier, Kieran Ruscheinski. Jack Roslovic was in CBJ lineup on Thursday. Josh Anderson spoke about his relationship with John Tortorella. Elliotte Friedman confirmed that Marc Bergevin had a deal in place to move up in the 2016 NHL Entry Draft to select Dubois. What if?

  • Following a much-too-early review of the Canadiens new additions last week, the guys continue with a much-too-early review of the North Division. The Canadiens find themselves in possession of second place in the North behind the Toronto Maple Leafs, but have played two less games to this point. Can the Canadiens compete for a division title?   • Rick and Joe take a look back at the week that was for the Montreal Canadiens. The Habs picked up three wins this week and currently occupy the top spot in the North division alongside the Toronto Maple Leafs.
  • Joel Armia was diagnosed with a concussion after a hit from Canucks defenceman Tyler Myers. He will not play Saturday night against Vancouver. Myers avoided supplementary discipline for the questionable hit and will be available to the Canucks.
  • Paul Byron is game-time decision for Saturday’s game after taking a Shea Weber slapshot on Thursday night.
  • Corey Perry and Michael Frolik slid into the top-12 at practice on Friday, given the injuries to Armia and Byron, which has cap implications for the Canadiens. Jake Evans reaction to being placed on the taxi squad.
  • The Laval Rocket opened camp with 32 players in attendance. The Canadiens announced affiliation with the new ECHL franchise in Trois-Rivières.
  • Canadiens announce hiring of Ben Shutron as an amateur scout.
  • They Said What? – Our favourite clips from Canadiens media availability this week.
  • Hockey notes – Pierre Luc-Dubois drama escalates after benching, comes to a close with trade to Winnipeg. Report: Phillip Danault rejected $30 million contract extension offered by Marc Bergevin.

  • After our Big Topic segment two weeks ago in which Rick and Joe gave their predictions for which Habs newcomer would make the biggest impact with the club, the guys take an early look at the newbies after five games. We’ve seen Jake Allen between the pipes, we’ve seen Tyler Toffoli and Josh Anderson up front and we’ve seen Joel Edmundson and Alexander Romanov on the back end. Who has impressed the most?

  • They Said What? – We heard from Claude Julien this week as he gave his thoughts on the changes we have seen Marc Bergevin make this off-season. He also touched on the Max Domi situation, what to expect from Alexander Romanov and what the line combinations might look like this season.
  • Corey Pronman posted an updated ranking of NHL prospect systems in The Athletic following the 2020 NHL Draft. The latest ranking has them falling two spots to #11, with the Flames and Kings leapfrogging them into the top 10.
  • With the NHL still targeting a January 1 start date for the 2020-21 season, news came down that the league has cancelled the 2021 Winter Classic and 2021 All-Star Game.

Segment 2: Canadiens 2020-21 Lineup

  • After the roster changes we have seen so far in the off-season for the Canadiens, Rick and Joe take a look at what the forward lines and defence pairings might look like heading into the 2020-21 season.
