  • After the Boston game, some suggested that, to a degree, Montreal was winning in spite of Carey Price. Price did his part to dispell that narrative with his outstanding performance in Philly. 
  • The guys give their thoughts on the Red Wings trading former Hab, Jacob de la Rose, to the St. Louis Blues.
  • Elliotte Friedman touched on Ryan Poehling and linked Konstantin Okulov to the Canadiens in his most recent 31 Thoughts article.

Claude Julien says they’re doing their best for now, but Elliotte Friedman reported the Canadiens “took a look” at Juuso Riikola of the Pittsburgh Penguins, and reports suggest the Canadiens have also had pro scouts at San Jose Sharks games.

  • The guys take a look around the league and see which teams have come out of the gate with something to prove. 
  • An article in The Athletic looked at each team’s demographics in terms of age and size. The Canadiens came in as the second smallest team in the league. 
  • Claude Julien had some interesting comments regarding Nick Suzuki’s compete level, saying that it hasn’t been where it was in the pre-season and training camp. Is this a fair criticism?
  • Which team is more desperate for help on the blueline, the Winnipeg Jets or the Canadiens? Rick and Joe weigh in. 
  • It was announced that Noah Juulsen was given the green light to return to the ice. He was sent down to the Laval Rocket to get back in rhythm. The guys weigh in on the situation and discuss how this could impact the Canadiens going forward.

  • Much has been made of the Canadiens prospect pool. Which youngsters, if any, will be there opening night in Raleigh? The guys discuss.

  • The Canadiens have gotten off to a good start in preseason, but that’s been in spite of a rough start with injuries. Paul Byron and Ryan Poehling are the latest to be bit by the injury bug, joining a list that includes Karl Alzner, Noah Juulsen and prospects like Gustav Olofsson and Joni Ikonen. The Canadiens were relatively healthy last season, but will that luck be on their side this year? 
  • Poehling has been sidelined with a concussion and Juulsen has been dealing with some headaches that Claude Julien insists are not related to a concussion. Rick and Joe weigh in on comments made by Julien regarding concussions.

  • It was reported by Alexandre Pratt of La Presse that Jake Gardiner rejected a three-year $15.75 million contract offer from the Canadiens before accepting the deal offered by Carolina. 
  • The Canadiens were interested in Matt Duchene during Free Agency, before he signed with the Nashville Predators. Chris Johnston of Sportsnet shed some light on how negotiations went for the Canadiens, and just how close Duchene may have been to donning le bleu, blanc et rouge. 
  • Marc Bergevin shares his thoughts on the Canadiens as training camp begins. 
  • Rick and Joe take a look back at the Rookie Tournament in Belleville before turning our attention to Habs Training Camp.

  • Former Canadiens captain, Brian Gionta, will be inducted into the US Hockey Hall of Fame. 
  • Do the Habs have interest in signing veteran forward Jason Pominville to a PTO? 
  • Northeastern University officially welcomed one of the Canadiens newest prospects, Jayden Struble to the school. 
  • The Hockey News released it’s 2019-20 list of Top 50 players in the NHL: Carey Price is the only Canadien.
  • Canadiens Rookie Camp is underway! This batch of Canadiens youngsters head to the CAA Arena in Belleville to face off against the prospects of the Ottawa Senators and Winnipeg Jets this weekend, where Rick and others from the Rocket Sports team will be providing coverage. 
  • Marc Bergevin says that he is not interested in bringing Andrei Markov back to the Habs.
  • It was suggested by Elliotte Friedman last week that the Canadiens had interest in Jake Gardiner earlier in the summer. David Pagnotta of the Fourth Period added fuel to the fire when he suggested the Canadiens were willing to offer Gardiner a multi-year deal for his services. Gardiner signed with the Hurricanes on Friday on a team-friendly deal worth $16.2 million over four years.
